Safety Drills and Exercises

In order to remain compliant, ALL safety (fire, lock down, shelter in place, relocation, etc.) drills shall
be:

  • Maintained on a monthly basis
  • Updated in Previstar after the drill is completed
  • Filed in the school safety binder located in the school’s main office

Designated staff can access Previstar by logging into your employee portal via the District’s homepage.  As a reminder, all drill schedules are due by August 23, 2024.  Any changes to scheduled drills after the due date shall be submitted promptly for approval to the school’s Assistant Superintendent and the Office of School Safety.

Annual Safety Drill Requirements

Fire Drill – Completed by September 9, 2024

  • Mandatory-10 Per School Year
  • Mandatory-1 within the first 10 calendar days of school opening
  • Mandatory-1 Fall and 1 Spring drill witnessed by the PFD
    NOTE:  A fire drill is required every month school is in session or occupied

Security (Lockdown) Drill – Completed by November 8, 2024

Mandatory 1 Per School Year

  • Mandatory-1 within the first 90 calendar days of school opening
  • Schools must contact their local police district to ensure the police captain is notified of the schools security “lockdown” drills
  • Schools must notify parents in advance that a school security “lock down” drill is being scheduled

Relocation Drill – Mandatory 1 Per School Year (STAFF ONLY)
Shelter in Place Drill –Mandatory 1 Per School Year
Emergency Communication Drill – Recommended 1 Per School Year
Reunification Drill – Recommended 1 Per School Year
