Board of Education Receives Two Revised Charter Applications
The Board of Education’s Charter Schools Office has announced that it has received revised charter applications for two proposed charter schools: Joan Myers Brown Academy: A String Theory Charter School and Tacony Academy Charter School at St. Vincent’s. The Board of Education denied the original charter applications for these proposed charter schools in February 2019.
As with each initial charter application, all revised charter applications will be subject to a comprehensive and rigorous review. Pursuant to Pennsylvania Charter School Law, the vote by the Board of Education on each revised charter application is expected to take place at the first Action Meeting 45 days after submission of the revised charter application. Based on this timeline, the Board will hold a public vote on the revised charter application of Tacony Academy Charter School at St. Vincent’s at its May 30, 2019 Board Meeting. The Board will hold a public vote on the revised charter application of Joan Myers Brown Academy: A String Theory Charter School at its June 27, 2019 Board Meeting.
The Charter Schools Office has updated its website with more information about each revised charter application, including a link to each revised charter application narrative.
