AI Resources
Essential information regarding the District’s guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically generative AI tools.
As you know, AI is rapidly evolving and has the potential to significantly impact the way we work in support of schools. The District has been proactively working to develop guidelines that ensure the safe and ethical use of AI while harnessing its potential benefits.
Key Points from the District’s AI Guidance:
Approved Tools: The District has carefully evaluated and approved two generative AI tools for staff and student use:
Google Gemini:
Adobe Express with Firefly (available now for all ages).
These tools meet our stringent security and privacy requirements.
Use of non-approved AI tools for District work is in direct violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.
Privacy and Security: The District has taken extensive measures to protect student and staff data. The approved AI vendors have agreed to store data exclusively in the United States and not to sell or share data without explicit permission.
Training and Support: An asynchronous course is available to build your knowledge and skills. Search cornerstone for “Understanding Data Privacy and AI Fundamentals”. Additional training will also be offered in the near future. Please reach out to Michelle Harris mimuller@philasd.org for additional information.
Transparency and Communication: The District’s AI guidance will be shared widely through various communication channels, including newsletters and a dedicated website listing all approved online programs and applications.
Why This Matters:
The District’s AI guidance is designed to empower staff and students to leverage AI effectively while mitigating bias and protecting privacy.
