Eligibility. —- Any student enrolled in any Philadelphia school. K-12.

Entry Period  —The PSTV Contest Series will begin a new contest every few months. Submissions will be DUE JANUARY 10th

Holiday Contest:

In this contest, you will create your own Holiday! This holiday can be anything from showing appreciation to your fave food (National Pancake Day is Sept 26th), to your favorite people (Veterans day, Mothers/Fathers day), or to remember an event that is important to you (Independence day/Juneteenth). Pick a day out of the year and create your own holiday for us to celebrate with you!

Take a photo 📸 or create a Video, Drawing, or a Collage showing us what your superhero base would look like if you were a superhero! We also encourage TikToks!

These works will all be seen on PSTV and displayed throughout PSTV channels. This contest is open to K-12 students.

Superhero Base Rubric & Scoring

PSTV is committed to educational stewardship and programs, and we want to see it through your eyes. For our 2024/2025 Contest Series. PSTV encourages you to utilize your media skills. It could be through photos, videos, drawings, animations, music, spoken word, etc. It will be defined in each contest.

Entries should include the following information.

· Name

· Current Grade level

· Email

· Title of project

· Description of project (the specifics can be found in the Instructions)

 

By submitting your entry, you (parent/legal guardian if the entrant is a minor in their state of residence) agree that the media piece(s) conforms to the guidelines and content restrictions.

By entering, entrants (parent/legal guardian if entrant is a minor in their state of residence) represent and warrant that the media work(s) submitted: are their original creations; do not infringe any other person’s or entity’s rights.

Entries must be submitted by the original creator.

If you choose to include people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must provide copies of those releases to PSTV upon request.

The following submissions are ineligible:

 

· Images that involve the photographer or photo subjects willful harassment of individuals, wildlife, or damage to the environment.

· Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent, or other objectionable or inappropriate content.

Images that involve or portray any form of bullying, discrimination, racism, or racist symbols

· Images that involve putting any individual or animal in danger.

 

The School District of Philadelphia has zero tolerance for such bullying, harassment, and discriminatory or racist behavior, as outlined in our Statement on Antiracism and supported by Board Policies 248 and 249. The District strives to create learning environments free from bullying, harassment, and discrimination for all students. To succeed at this, we heavily rely on every school community member to understand what bullying, harassment, discrimination, and racism are and promptly report such incidents for review, investigation, and follow-up.

 

SDP Policy: Defining Bullying, Harassment, Discrimination, and Racism:

 

Bullying: An intentional electronic, written, verbal, nonverbal, psychological, or physical act or series of actions directed at another student or students, which occurs in and or outside a school setting that is severe, persistent, or pervasive.

 

Discrimination: To treat individuals differently or harass or victimize based on a protected classification including race, color, age, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, ancestry, national origin, marital status, pregnancy, or handicap/disability.

 

Harassment: includes unwelcome conduct such as graphic, written, electronic, verbal, or nonverbal acts including offensive jokes, slurs, epithets, and name-calling, ridicule or mockery, insults or put-downs, offensive objects or pictures, physical assaults or threats, intimidation, sexual misconduct, or other conduct that may be harmful or humiliating or interfere with a person’s school or school-related performance.

 

Racism: the conscious or unconscious, intentional or unintentional enactment of racial power, grounded in racial prejudice and discrimination, by an individual or group against another individual or group from a perceived lower racial status.

 

 

 

PSTV shall determine entry eligibility at its sole and absolute discretion.

 

You may enter up to one (1) form of media for each entry period. PSTV reserves the right to reject any additional entries or entries that do not comply with these Official Guidelines. By entering, you indicate your unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Guidelines and PSTV’s decisions, which are final and binding. You cannot win a prize unless you comply with all requirements in these Official Guidelines.

 

Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission (such as with a paragraph about their photo or the highest resolution version of their image).

Media submissions will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, and subject matter relevance to conservation, able to tell a story. Judging will be conducted by a panel of PSTV employees and or SDP employees/officials (the “Panel”). The Panel will evaluate all valid entries and pick winners in the following categories:

1. Overall Winner (1 winner per grade band K-4, 5-8,9-12): Illustrates understanding of contest submission submitting under all requirements, shows technical know-how (lighting, framing, sound if used), visually appealing, tells a story. – Will be highlighted on our social media and website.

 

2. The honorable mentions will be notified, and the name will appear on the PSTV website and may be selected to be in a video reel that will air on the channel.

 

3. All entrants will enter a larger contest pool for a drawing at the end of the school year giveaway.

 

All judging decisions are final. Please do not contact us about the status of entries or judging. PSTV will notify the winner via the contact information provided at the time of entry.

Media submissions(s) depicting anything that does not adhere to the rules of the PSTV Contest contain unsafe acts, present resource or public use management concerns, or that are inappropriate, indecent, or obscene, as determined by PSTV in their sole discretion, shall be disqualified.

Except where prohibited, a potential winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, including proof of age and liability/publicity release within 14 days. If a potential winner is a minor, their parent or legal guardian will be required to sign the documents on their behalf. If a potential winner fails to return these documents on time, an alternate potential winner may be selected.

PSTV will determine prizes. A prize may not be transferred and must be accepted as awarded. A winner may not request cash or a substitute prize.

You will retain all rights to any media submission you submit. However, you give PSTV the right to use on any digital marketing platform for promotional purposes only in perpetuity for no cost.

 

By entering, entrants (parent/legal guardian if entrant is a minor in their state of residence) grant a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to PSTV edit, adapt, make derivative works from, broadcast, publish, and otherwise use any or all of the descriptions and/or media selection(s) submitted, and may use them for advertising, promotional and/or any other purpose in any and all media now or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity without compensation, notification or permission unless prohibited by law. In addition, by entering this contest, entrants (parent/legal guardian if entrant is a minor in their state of residence) agree to have their submitted media work(s) used and displayed, either singularly or in combination with others and any size, on the official PSTV website and social media platforms and on the websites, social media, and print materials of the PSTV without any fee or other form of compensation due at any time for so long as desired by the PSTV.

 

By entering, you (parent/legal guardian if entrant is a minor in their state of residence) agree to release and hold harmless PSTV, SDP, Social Media platforms, their respective parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and SDP/PSTV agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the PSTV Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to:

Unauthorized human intervention in the contest.
Technical errors.
Printing errors.
Late or undelivered mail.
Errors in the administration of the Photo Contest.
Injury or damage to persons or property.
You waive the right to claim any attorney’s fees and any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

Any information you submit as part of the contest will be used under PSTV’s Privacy Policy. The information you provide when you enter is provided to the PSTV. Except where prohibited, you consent to PSTV’s use of your name in any list of winners (if applicable) and for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration. On the form submission, you can opt-out of the use of your name.

You agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in Philadelphia. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights, and obligations, or the rights and obligations of PSTV in connection with the contest, shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Philadelphia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of Philadelphia or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Philadelphia.
