In early 1997, Getnet Getnet began his journey with the School District of Philadelphia as a general cleaner. He quickly joined the Building Engineer in Training (BET) Program, while attending the Community College of Philadelphia where he earned his Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Upon completion of his BET, he started working as a Relief Engineer and has since been promoted to Building Engineer 11. While serving in that role, he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Temple University. Now, 24 years later, he’s been asked to serve as the Acting Training Instructor. He is ready to give back what he has learned over the past two decades in his service to the district.
