The Environmental Advisory Council went on a field trip to learn more about the District’s management of environmental conditions in our buildings. The council’s quarterly meeting was held Monday evening, Feb. 5, at the C.W. Henry on Carpenter Lane in the city’s Mount Airy neighborhood. The main school building was originally constructed beginning in 1906, and with several expansions over subsequent decades.
Each section of the school brings different styles of construction and building materials, making Henry a helpful site to visit to see the wide variety of environmental elements and how they present and are maintained and managed. Victoria Flemming, acting Executive Director of the Office of Environmental Management & Services, led council members on a building tour with several stops for Q&A. OEMS thanks Principal Len for the warm welcome and extending the invitation to school parents to join the tour.
