John Mulligan, the Division’s Fire Safety Specialist, conducts on-site technical inspections of school facilities and fire safety systems. Throughout the school year, he is responsible for inspecting fire alarm systems, fire fighting equipment and building structures for potential fire hazards. He investigates fire-stricken facilities to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
Additionally, John provides effective training to professional and paraprofessional personnel on the proper methods for staging fire drills, evacuating handicapped persons, storing and disposing of flammable materials, and operating and maintaining fire extinguishing equipment.
This school year, the Division of Fire & Life Safety has responded to more than 130 calls for service, including fires, gas leaks, hazardous material calls, and investigations. This does not include the 2,000 employees trained in Fire Safety over the last 12 months!
