The Office of Environmental Management and Services welcomes two new AHERA Management Planners and two Environmental Field Auditors to the TEAM.
Lauren Pickett and Catherine Curia have joined the District as AHERA Management Planners. They play a critical role in helping the District document its mandated asbestos management for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In their new jobs, Lauren and Catherine work with the AHERA Manager to oversee inspectors, review and monitor all work involved with AHERA regulations and work to help the District be in compliance.
Lauren worked for nearly four years as an industrial hygienist at Criterion Laboratories, where she worked closely with the School District of Philadelphia in organizing abatement reports and preparing documentation for Donesafe.
Catherine spent more than five years with Urban Engineers Inc. in the environmental engineering department and has experience with asbestos, lead-based paint, and groundwater regulations. She also worked for the Environmental Protection Agency in the Brownfields Division.
Jonathan McKinnon and Kevin Kell join the Philadelphia School District as environmental auditors. In that role, they coordinate and audit the work of consultants, contractors, and District staff engaged in environmental projects. They also importantly keep OEMS, and our entire Operations team informed and help streamline communication between the field and the office.
Jonathan has worked for several years as an environmental scientist with Criterion Laboratories, where he investigated and identified environmental health and safety hazards and provided a wide range of environmental testing, auditing, and consulting services.
Kevin brings nearly ten years of experience as an Asbestos Supervisor for Delta BJDS. He has developed great relationships and an understanding of the challenges as he spent many years helping supervise abatement work in more than 100 Philadelphia schools.
