Powel/SLAMS is a new K-8 school building that co-locates 2 programs: Powel Elementary School and Science Leadership Academy Middle School (SLAMS), serving a total of 600 students. The existing Powel School was vacated and remains empty at this time. There are three classrooms per grade, for a total of 21 general education classrooms, two special education classrooms, two science labs, a pre-engineering lab, and many shared spaces and resources including a Maker space, Art room, Music Room, small group instructions, library, full-service cafeteria and gym. The schoolyard includes an outdoor learning space and a playground with play equipment. Powel and SLAMS remain two separate programs with two separate administration areas.
