Tracey McGrath started teaching with the School District in 1993. Prior to working for the Office of Educational Technology, she was a teacher at Abigail Vare School in South Philadelphia, where she spent eight years teaching 2nd graders, and eight years as a K-8 technology and digital literacy teacher. It is here where she developed her love and passion for technology in the classroom. She utilized technology on a daily basis as a learning center in her balanced literacy rotations. She then brought the skills and strategies for integrating technology into her classroom, into her role as a K-8 Instructional Technology Teacher.
In her first role as an Instructional Technology Teacher, she had the opportunity to pilot one of the first mobile carts in the School District with her students and was instrumental in helping the District define some of the first wireless network and device protocols. Tracey is an innovative, passionate, and enthusiastic educator and believes that technology plays a vital role in 21st century education.
Tracey has worked in the Office of Educational Technology for ten years. Before becoming a Technology Program Specialist, she was a school-based Technology Integration Specialist.
As a Technology Program Specialist, she works with administrators, teachers, and students to provide instructional support integrating technology into daily instruction. She also supports school-based operational programs and systems.
