Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,
Today, I am pleased to announce the members of the School District of Philadelphia’s Comprehensive Facilities Planning Teams. This is a significant milestone within our Facilities Planning Process (FPP) and represents a critical strategic step forward in transforming how we manage our educational spaces.
In November, we invited community members and staff to apply for our Facilities Planning Advisory Groups. We received over 400 applications, and are grateful for every enthusiastic response. While the volume of applications made selection very difficult, we are excited about the valuable contributions that the selected participants will add to the FPP. Members of the advisory groups represent all 15 Learning Networks. This broad representation will help to ensure that the diverse voices of the Philadelphia community will be included in our process and planning. Additionally, the Facilities Planning Project Team, which includes diverse community members from across the city, will work in collaboration with the advisory groups to further develop the facilities plan. To view the members of the Project Team and Advisory Groups, please visit our Facilities Planning website.
Over the course of this year, the Advisory Groups will work in collaboration with the Project Team to provide input and insights that will help to shape the formation of a Comprehensive Facilities Plan designed to address the condition and utilization of District facilities and ultimately improve academic achievement. We encourage you to follow our progress as we navigate our structured eight-phase facilities planning process.
Every improvement we make to our facilities is an investment in our student’s success and our staff’s ability to educate our students effectively. Every day we work together during the FPP, we are one step closer to achieving our vision of becoming the fastest-improving large urban school district in the country.
In partnership,
Tony B. Watlington Sr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
