Dear School District of Philadelphia Community,

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s snow, and that it infused some joy into your week. Since we strive to keep schools open to accelerate student achievement, this message is to remind all staff and families that all District schools and offices will operate on normal schedules today, Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

However, I urge caution as you travel to and from school and work today. The extreme weather means that there still may be icy conditions on the roads. Students who arrive late today due to weather-related challenges will not be marked late, or will be excused if absent, upon receipt of a note from a parent or guardian. Staff who arrive late will be marked with an excused lateness.

Please remember that safety is a top priority. Do not rush, take it slow. Arrive safely so that we can continue accelerating Philly in 2025.

In partnership,

Tony B. Watlington Sr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
The School District of Philadelphia
