Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,

We are writing to share an important update about a change in the mental health support services available to our students. The District no longer offers Kooth Mental Health Services as a resource to our students. This change is due to Kooth’s discontinuation of services within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We know that many of our students and families have benefited from the support and care provided by Kooth for nearly two years, and we understand that this change may be disappointing.

Please know that the mental health and emotional well-being of our students is, and will always be, a top priority for the School District of Philadelphia. We deeply believe that every student deserves access to the support they need to navigate life’s challenges and thrive. That’s why we are committed to ensuring that our students continue to have access to a robust network of resources and support services.

While Kooth will no longer be an option, we have a strong network of alternative resources in place to support our students’ well-being. These include:

While we work to identify an alternative resource to Kooth, we encourage families to utilize the above resources as needed, and to contact your child’s school counselor or building administrator if you have any questions or concerns about the support services available. We are here to help navigate this transition and ensure our students continue to receive the care they need.

In these uncertain times, the support and well-being of our students is more important than ever. We are deeply committed to being a source of stability, care, and support for every student. Thank you for your partnership in prioritizing the mental health and success of our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jayme Banks, PsyD., MBA
Interim Chief of Student Support Services
Office of Student Support Services
