Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,

For the past few years, many of you have taken advantage of the City of Philadelphia’s PHLConnectED program, and gained access to free, reliable internet service. This summer PHLConnectED is transitioning – the final day of sponsored internet service through PHLConnectED is July 31, 2023.

As PHLConnectED transitions, we are working with the City to raise awareness about the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). ACP is the federal government’s internet subsidy program that provides eligible families with up to $30 off their existing monthly internet bill. All households that are home to a student attending a School District of Philadelphia school are eligible for ACP benefits. We encourage all District families that need access to reliable internet to apply for the ACP, whether you are currently enrolled in PHLConnectED or not.

Next Steps to Enroll in ACP

For the rest of the school year, PHLConnectED will be supporting PreK through 12th grade families with new internet access needs and applying for ACP. Families must apply for ACP before July 31, 2023 to continue receiving free or low-cost internet. To get a head start on your application, download and type the answers into the highlighted fields on this approved verification letter. Then visit getacp.org/phl to begin your application. Once your application is submitted and approved, you can contact your internet service provider and add ACP to your existing plan or search for a new plan that, when combined with the ACP benefit, becomes free.

Again, to learn more about ACP and start your application, visit getacp.org/phl. To get help, contact a PHLConnectED Digital Navigator online or dial 2-1-1 to schedule an appointment. Press 8 for language services. If necessary, you can also complete and mail a paper application.

Access to reliable internet is critical to ensuring our children receive a well-rounded education. The District and the City are committed to helping you get the support and service you need.

Sincerely,

The School District of Philadelphia
