Evening Update: No Additional Schools Will Shift to Virtual Learning At This Time; Planning for Next Week
Dear School District of Philadelphia Families and Staff,
At this time, based on this evening’s data review, no additional schools will shift to virtual learning for students tomorrow due to staffing challenges. We will provide an update based on late night and early morning data by 6 a.m. tomorrow.
All School District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 17th in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
As we look ahead to next week, we remain committed to using the most current staffing data to inform school-by-school decisions, and sharing those decisions as quickly as possible so our families can plan accordingly. For each new week, all schools will provide in-person learning for students unless they are identified as needing to shift to virtual due to staffing challenges or COVID-19 conditions. Decisions about schools that will provide virtual learning for students next week(Tuesday, January 18th through Friday, January 21st) will start tomorrow, and our schedule for updating you will change slightly due to the holiday weekend. We will share updates about next week by 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. tomorrow, and by 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday. The list of schools for next week will be available at philasd.org/covidupdates starting tomorrow at 4 p.m.
As always, we ask that you prepare in advance for the possibility of virtual learning for your child. Thank you and enjoy your evening.
With appreciation,
Dr. William Hite
Superintendent
