The District Partners with Wells Fargo and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey for Literacy Program
National Read Across America Day and Wells Fargo, in partnership with United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, co-hosted the “Literacy Tools for Schools Celebration & Launch” at Benjamin B. Comegys Elementary School.
The brief program served as the official launch of Vello, an innovative, one-on-one tutoring program that matches tutor teams with local classrooms for guided reading support.
Wells Fargo presented a six-figure check to the United Way for the Vello program. Stephen Briggs, senior vice president with Wells Fargo and Comegys Elementary School alumnus, read to the students.
Vello will be piloted in several schools across the School District of Philadelphia. Wells Fargo’s support will allow every Comegys’ student in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to receive a free book for their home or school library.
