Dear School District Families,

I am pleased to share that the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT) has now completed its readiness reviews for 45 more schools, all of which will reopen for in-person learning starting Monday, March 15, for PreK-2 students whose families chose hybrid learning in the fall. PreK-2 teachers and support staff for these 45 schools will return to buildings on Wednesday, March 10th to prepare for the return of our young learners. These schools follow the first group of 53 schools that reopened for in-person learning today.

The 45 schools opening for in-person learning on March 15th are:

As part of the initial joint agreement, window fans that had previously been installed in classrooms in these schools will be replaced by air purifiers before students return.

The PFT will continue its school readiness reviews, with the goal of announcing the return dates for the remaining schools serving PreK-2 students by March 22, 2021. Once readiness reviews for all PreK-2 schools are completed, the PFT will begin reviews for the remaining schools serving students in third through 12th grade so that other groups of students can begin to slowly and safely phase in for in-person learning.

As shared previously, PreK-2 families who initially chose to remain with 100% digital learning will be able to opt into hybrid learning after all PreK-2 hybrid learning students have successfully phased in.

It is heartwarming to once again see children in our schools today after nearly a year, and I look forward to safely welcoming even more of our young people back for in-person learning next week and in the weeks to come.
